TC Meeting - 2016-09-02

Participants

  • Daniele Gagliardi (DGA)
  • Martin Hamant (MHA)
  • Stéphane Laurière (SLA)
  • Yosu Gorroñogoitia (YGO)

Minutes

New TC member: Nicola Bertazzo

Nicola Bertazzo is joining the TC as the leader of the Spago4Q project (previously led by Davide Dalle Carbonare). SLA added him to the TC list and DGA will introduce him to the group.

Contest

  • The work assessment phase will start on Monday for two weeks.
  • SLA mentions it's very important that the TC expresses a view on the work and proposes a winners list, which will be then discussed with the mentors
  • General agreement to proceed this way.

Posssible cross-fertilization between OMM and the CII Badge Program

  • SLA presented some slides titled Toward OMM v2 - Notes on a possible cross-fertilization between OMM and the CII Best Practices Criteria
  • We agreed on the idea to have several OW2 projects get a Badge to get to know the program and process better
  • YGO raises questions about the validation process - how is it guaranteed that the score reflects the reality
  • DGA will ask the SpagoBI and Spago4Q teams to get a Badge
  • Good other candidates include FusionDirectory, Prelude, XWiki
  • YGO: Atos is promoting methods to assess maturity internally, including the business aspects, along a set of criteria.

GitLab

  • MHA: MHA prefers the Omnibus packaging system over an installation from sources. Alessandro at Engineering favours an installation from sources. Daniel Le Berre uses an installation from sources but recommends Omnibus.
  • DGA: recent announcement of the availability of GitLab internally at Engineering, v8.1.10, approximately 8000 users. For bug tracking JIRA is used by default. The Tuleap bug tracker is also offered as an option and is currently used by a public administration project. An integration with Alfresco and with CAS SSO has been developed. The Tuleap bug tracker is very flexible, not as much as JIRA though.
  • MHA: we may check how GitLab works with CAS
  • MHA raises a question about the integration level between JIRA and GitLab
  • YGO: Gitlab is adopted, promoted and encouraged within the Atos Research & Innovation as the primary SCM. It is used both internally in R&I projects, as well as offered to those projects consortia as main project SCM. The Mantis bug tracker is used for some projects.

OW2con TC presentation

  • SLA will draft a first set of slides covering infra (with Martin), TC achievements and outlook
  • We will discuss the draft with DGA and the whole TC
  • Presentation to be given Thu. 22 Sept. pm

OSCAR Best Practices Guides

  • We will start a new guide covering "Measurement and Metrics Best Practices" (+ KPI)
  • This is a key topic in terms of market readiness assessment.
  • It will be useful for the POSS metrics workshop.
  • The talk "Measure It!" by Daniele at OW2con will contain references on the matter.
  • DGA: two kind of tools: tools that generate measures (i.e. SonarQube), tools that analyse the metrics (SpagoBI among others)
  • Book on best practices to manage and develop a community around an OSS project (French): Animer une communauté autour d'un projet ouvert - Stéphane Ribas, Patrick Guillaud, Stéphane Ubeda, 2016
