TC Meeting - 2016-09-09

Participants

  • Daniele Gagliardi (DGA)
  • Martin Hamant (MHA)
  • Stéphane Laurière (SLA)
  • Benoit Mortier (BMO)
  • Clément Oudot (CLO)

Minutes

Spago4Q

  • SLA: we may consider using Spago4Q within the OW2 quality programme
  • DGA: the roadmap of Spago4Q includes drafting a new model for gathering metrics to be used to calculate SLA (Service Level Agreement). The development of Spago4Q is tightly bound to SpagoBI development. Nicola was involved in the Qualipso R&D project and in OMM.

Cross-fertilization between OMM v2 and the CII Badge Program

  • BMO has started the process for getting a Badge for FusionDirectory at https://bestpractices.coreinfrastructure.org/projects/351 (work in progress: 82% )
  • BMO brings the following comments:
    • "I'am a fan of it. It asks lots of interesting questions"
    • The form was useful for spotting important tasks that were not carried out in the project's process such as the following criteria:
      • "The information on how to contribute MUST explain the contribution process (e.g., are pull requests used?) (URL required)"
      • "The project MUST post license(s) in a standard location. (URL required) [license_location]"
      • "Vulnerability reporting process"
    • Some part are difficult to answer ... like "Secure development knowledge"
    • One drawback: the procedure focuses on heavy compiled programs and not some much about web interface
  • BMO on collaboration: we could design OMM extensions, check the differences and ask for a merge in the Badge Criteria via patches, to see the kind of interaction we can have
  • SLA: OMM specific parts could cover in particular web apps indeed, cloud delivery, standards

LDAP migration

  • BMO asks info about the status of the new LDAP migration
  • SLA: we're not far from migrating
  • MHA: migrating to a single LDAP and to FusionDirectory is a first step. We'll have have to discuss what part of the OW2 user profile we store in the LDAP or in XWiki. We want to mix up XWiki / LDAP user's data as low as possible.
  • BMO points out that the personal plugin in FusionDirectory contains lots of things right now because people goes toward full profile editing.

Contest

  • SLA: the team list and activity reports are available from the Contest site, approximately 12 teams who delivered some code indeed. An involvement of TC members will be needed to go through the delivered work and propose a list of winners based on the evaluations provided by the mentors.
  • BMO expresses a possible interest for the topic on a DevOps tool for continuous deployment and configuration of Cloud based applications
  • DGA expresses a possible interest for the topic related to Q&A documents
  • BMO and DGA have signed in on the Contest site and will try to help reviewing some contributions
  • CLO confirms that the team who enroled for the One Time Password topic stopped working after a while, possibly the topic was too dififcult
  • DGA points out a topic involving Spago4Q and Trustie, however no team selected it eventually

OSCAR Measurement and Metrics Best Practices Guide

  • SLA: last week we decided to start compiling best practices around measurement and metrics. The goal would be to help OSS project leaders to identifiy the right metrics to track and choose the most appropriate tools to do so, then as suggested by dgagliardi, to compute high level KPIs. A place to collaborate about it was created on the OSCAR wiki.
  • DGA: the infra can be the source of measures, but in practice the infra is not the only data source: project management requires measures from other tools such as spreadsheets, survey analysis and others.
  • BMO agrees that the measures should come from the infra tools and from the code
  • DGA: in practice, two things are very difficult: define shared measures and find a standard way to gather them, because tools are different, and configured differently among different infras. SpagoBI and Spago4Q projects have seen the development of several ETL to gather data from infras, an activity DGA and Nicola are currently involved in. Gathering info from: SonarQube, SVN, Jenkins, using an ETL process based on Talend.
  • BMO points out the the lack of integrated dashboards displaying info from Redmine, SonarQube, test results. A dashboard would help identifying where to focus on and apply corrective measures.
  • DGA mentions some development is taking place at Engineering around dashboards and reports in this area, helping managers know better about the production within their organization unit.

Spagic repo SVN dump

  • The Spagic internal development team needs a dump of the Spagic SVN
  • DGA points out possible authorization and space issues
  • MHA will take care of the dump

Next meetings
